James W. Franklin Scholarship
2007-2008 Award Winner
Michael Conger
As presented by Ellison Franklin, President, May 15, 2008:
"Sometimes…memories are all we have…of a special time, a special place, or a special person.
Our response to memories should be an indication of the value we place on that special time,
place or person and the impact made on our lives.
The family of Jim Franklin established a scholarship in his name as a tribute to him and the
significant place he had in our lives and continues to have through the love he gave us and
the special times and places we remember sharing with this very special person.
Through the generosity of those who remember Jim with their contributions to the James W.
Franklin Scholarship Fund, we have been able to increase the award of his scholarship
from $1000 to $1500. I also want to thank the counseling staff at Plymouth High School
for promoting this opportunity with graduating seniors. The majority of scholarship
applications this year came from Plymouth High School seniors…a tribute to the counselors here.
The winner of this year’s James W. Franklin Scholarship exemplifies the ideals and attributes
of Jim in several ways. His determination has led to his achievements and his positive
attitude has contributed to his success in swimming, scouting, church work, and school.
He plans to enter the business world after college and continue his “never give up”
approach to life.
The Board of Directors of the James W. Franklin Scholarship are honored to award this
year’s $1500 scholarship to Michael Conger."
