James W. Franklin Scholarship
2005-2006 Award
Winner
Alissa Vermuelen

As presented by Ellison Franklin, President, May 18, 2006:
"Jim Franklin had everything…but time. We could not sustain his life, but we can sustain his memory and his legacy of love, kindness, and caring for others by annually awarding a scholarship in his name to a student swimmer who, through the words of an essay, represents the values and ideals of Jim.

This year’s winner of the James W. Franklin Scholarship is described by one of her teachers as a person of integrity, compassion, and having a smile that lights up a room. She exemplifies the “best of the best” and is an outstanding role model for today’s youth.

It is with pride that the Board of Directors of the James W. Franklin Scholarship Fund award this year’s scholarship for $1,000.00 to Alissa Vermuelen."

Alissa was involved in the following extra curricular community activities: Canton Swim Team, National Honor Society, Student Council, Trinity Presbyterian Church Youth Group, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, and the Special Olympics.

With a cumulative high school GPA of 4.0250, Alissa will be attending Calvin College in the Fall.  Her career goal is to attend medical school and become a doctor.
